Hello, I'm Nate, Software Engineer.
I build software to solve problems in my own workflow, because I believe an effective system means everything. Automation matters. If you can make a process easy and enjoyable to execute, you can sustain a level of consistency most people never even reach.
The question drives everything I build: "how can I make this better to do?" I find real joy in fixing the stuff most people just accept as "part of the process." Because if something's miserable to execute, or you have to suffer to get what you want, there's usually another way. You can make another way.
I move fast. I adapt. Change is inevitable, and I've learned to treat it as fuel instead of friction. Same philosophy runs through my content work too: imperfect action beats perfect planning, every time. I'd rather build, test, and fix in real time than sit around planning for a version of "ready" that never actually comes.
Whether it's a tool, a system, or a piece of content, I'm chasing the same thing: taking an idea from vision to finished product, and making the process itself something worth showing up for.
What I reach for first.
Where to find me.
Shift Tracker
A lightweight Windows Electron tray app for tracking shift hours. Built during my internship at Digi-Key after realizing Workday had no live time tracker, so I built one.
- 01Stamp clock-in with "Now" or type a time manually
- 02Log a lunch break (excluded from paid hours)
- 03Live running clock toward your goal with a progress bar
- 04Clock-out calculator showing the exact time you need to leave
- 05Pin button to keep the window open when you click away
- 06Reset day with confirmation
Refine — Client Website
A real-world client project built during freelance web development, giving a local business a modern, maintainable website and long-term support.
- 01Designed end-to-end from Figma mockup to launch
- 02Authenticated admin dashboard for form submissions
- 03Replaced client's Excel sheet with a PostgreSQL database
- 04Edge function + Resend API for email notifications
- 05Built client's online presence and trust
- 06Ongoing hosting and updates
LLM Tech News Wiki
A self-updating research agent that tracks AI and software news from Reddit, X, YouTube, and Hacker News in real time. Built during my internship at DigiKey after our CIO challenged interns to build their own agent, so I built one that solves my own problem of AI news moving faster than any newsletter can cover it.
- 01Runs multi-platform research and synthesizes findings into a linked, source-cited wiki
- 02No database — entire system is markdown files and git
- 03Merges new findings into existing pages instead of overwriting, so knowledge compounds over time
- 04Every claim links back to its original source
- 05Generates a daily plain-English digest, fully automated end-to-end
Carofy — Carousel Builder
A client-side tool for building Instagram carousel posts, styling each slide, and exporting the whole set as individual PNGs. Built to replace reworking a Figma or Canva template every time, with zero backend and what you see is exactly what exports.
- 01Purpose-built for carousels, faster than reworking a Figma or Canva template each time
- 02One shared slide component powers the preview, thumbnails, and export
- 03Self-hosted fonts, exports render offline with no network calls
- 04Per-slide styling with apply-to-all, saveable presets, and undo/redo
- 05Hand-rolled drag-to-reorder filmstrip with auto-scroll
- 06No database or backend — entire app state lives in localStorage, deployed as a static build
Where I've built things.
- Led the merge of a legacy Quote Detail API into the core Quote API, coordinating retirement plans across dependent teams to consolidate part-lookup functionality into a single service
- Built an Activity History feature for the Quotes page end-to-end — API endpoint, client-side modal, and audit-trail attribution by user
- Contributed to CI/CD pipeline development and unit testing in an Agile Scrum environment, shipping production code to live environments
- Developed and deployed responsive, SEO-optimized static websites for multiple small businesses, giving clients a fast, professional web presence
- Built conversion-focused landing pages and UI components that directly improved client lead generation — one client saw 7 new leads in the first 2 months
- Worked directly with stakeholders to translate business goals into technical and branding decisions
